1. Can I use these sounds in my commercial project?  [TOP]
You can use the sounds in Free Royalty Free Sound Effects section in your commercial project.
We cannot grant or deny use for the sounds that are in the 'for personal use' categories as they were not created by us.

You can use the sounds in the public domain section but again we did not create these so we cannot grant or deny permission for their use or be in any way responsible for the authenticity. You are probably safe to use them but you are doing so at your own risk.

2. How do I download a sound effect?   [TOP]
Right click directly on the link or if you are on a Mac control click and choose 'Save links target as' from the menu that pops up. This will allow you to save the sound effects to your hard drive.

3. I like one of the sounds in the 'for personal use only' category. Can you make me a CD with it or sell me the rights to use it?  [TOP]
No, since we do not own these sounds we cannot alter them and/or sell them to you.
We do have a range of relaxation CDs available with a variety of nature sounds. Please use the contact forrm to ask about these or to make a request for a new one.

4. Can I get permission from Partners In Rhyme to use these sounds?  [TOP]
We can only give permission for use for the sound effects that we created. They are located here:
•  Spoken Words & Phrases
•  Weird Sound Effects
•  Midi Music Loops
•  Musical Instruments
•  Strange Human Sounds
•  Button Clicks and Beeps
•  Odd Animal Sounds
•  Ambient Environments

5. Will you please link to my website?  [TOP]
Partners In Rhyme has a reciprocal link program that we've had to put in place
due to a high demand of link requests. The program simply ensures that
links to our site stay active.
Your site has to have something to do with music or digital audio or it will be deleted from the directory.

Here is the Partners In Rhyme link directory:

6. I am a musician and would like to submit a demo of my work.  [TOP]
Yes, we are always looking for talented composers with something extra to offer.
Please point us to any examples you might have online or send a demo of your work to:

7. Can you please tell me if midi music is allowed to be put into ones website??? Someone told me that it was not legal and a person can be sued???  [TOP]
What they have told you is essentially true. If your website is a personal website, one that does not intend to make any money, then you are probably safe. It is still illegal but the songwriters associations won't bother you. If you play music on your website and that website is making money in some way they have the right to ask you for a percentage of that money.
This is just concerning the copyright of the original artist and record label.
There is also the mechanical copyright of the person who actually put the time and effort into creating the midi file itself. If you accidentally get hold of a midi file created by a company that is particularly vigilant then they might actually sue the person who is illegally using the midi file. This has happened on many occasions,
The midi files on our site are safe from the second kind of lawsuit threat but you still have to consider the songwriter's rights.
This is the reason we offer completely royalty free midi files for you to use free of charge
